Jeddah, Saudi Arabia — Saudi Arabia ended a 22-year wait for the Arabian Gulf Cup title after defeating the United Arab Emirates 2-0 in the final at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium on Tuesday night.
The hosts produced a blistering start, scoring twice inside the opening 13 minutes to secure their fourth Gulf Cup crown and their first since 2004.
The victory capped an unbeaten campaign for Saudi Arabia, who did not concede a single goal throughout the tournament.
Saudi Arabia strike twice in two minutes
Saudi Arabia immediately put the UAE under pressure and took the lead in the 11th minute.
Hammam Al-Hammami received the ball on the edge of the penalty area before his effort took a deflection off a UAE defender and wrong-footed goalkeeper Khalid Eisa.
The hosts doubled their advantage just two minutes later.
Nasser Al-Dosari provided the assist for Feras Al-Buraikan, who finished from close range to give Saudi Arabia a commanding 2-0 lead.

UAE threaten but Saudi Arabia hold firm
The UAE attempted to respond after the difficult opening spell and came close to reducing the deficit in the first half.
Nicolas Gimenez struck the post in the 24th minute, while the UAE were also awarded a penalty later in the half before the decision was overturned following a VAR review.
Saudi Arabia went into the interval with their two-goal advantage intact.
The UAE continued to push after the restart, but the Saudi defence remained organised and goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais helped his side preserve the clean sheet.
A late UAE effort struck the crossbar in the 87th minute, but Saudi Arabia survived the pressure to complete the victory.
Fourth Gulf Cup triumph
The victory gives Saudi Arabia their fourth Arabian Gulf Cup title, following previous triumphs in 1994, 2002 and 2003/04.
Their latest success ends one of the longest waits for the trophy in the competition's history, with the Green Falcons having last lifted it in 2004.
Saudi Arabia also completed the tournament without conceding a goal, having defeated Kuwait, Oman and Iraq in the group stage before overcoming Qatar on penalties in the semi-final.
Al-Hammami named player of the tournament
The final also capped a remarkable tournament for Hammam Al-Hammami.
The Saudi winger's opening goal was one of the highlights of the final, while his performances throughout the competition earned him the Player of the Tournament award.
His emergence provided another positive for head coach Georgios Donis, whose team demonstrated defensive discipline and attacking efficiency throughout the competition.
Donis praised his players' commitment and development after the final, particularly their ability to overcome the challenges they faced during the tournament.
Momentum ahead of Asian Cup
The Gulf Cup triumph provides Saudi Arabia with an important confidence boost ahead of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, which will be hosted on home soil.
After ending their long wait for another regional title, the Green Falcons will now turn their attention towards a bigger challenge as they prepare to compete for continental honours in front of their home supporters.
For the UAE, the defeat ends their hopes of winning a third Gulf Cup title after previous successes in 2007 and 2013.
Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, can celebrate a historic night in Jeddah.
Twenty-two years after their previous triumph, the Green Falcons are Arabian Gulf champions once again.
