CAF appoints Rwandan officials for Super Falcons’ Olympic qualifier against Comoros

Ikenne, Nigeria — The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed a team of Rwandan match officials for Friday’s 2028 Olympic Games qualifying first-leg encounter between Nigeria’s Super Falcons and Comoros.

Henriette Byukusenge has been named as the centre referee for the crucial qualifying fixture, with CAF also selecting three of her compatriots for other officiating roles.

Rwandan quartet to oversee first leg

Byukusenge will be assisted by Sandrine Murangwa, who has been appointed first assistant referee, and Regine Mukayiranga, who will serve as the second assistant referee.

Another Rwandan, Aline Umutoni, has been appointed as the fourth official.

CAF has also named Namibia’s Fransiska Katjaimo as the referee assessor, while Burkina Faso’s Oumou Sy will serve as the match commissioner.

First leg set for Ikenne

The Super Falcons will face Comoros on Friday, 9 October, at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne, Ogun State.

The match, which is scheduled to kick off at 6pm, was originally expected to be played in Comoros but was moved to Nigeria.

The encounter is the first leg of the two-legged qualifying tie, with both nations battling for a place in the next stage of the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Return leg also in Ikenne

The second leg is scheduled for Tuesday, 13 October, and will also be played at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne.

The Super Falcons will be hoping to take advantage of home conditions across the two matches and establish a strong position in the tie.

Nigeria currently have 21 players in camp, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Michelle Alozie, Christy Ucheibe, Toni Payne, Jennifer Echegini, Folashade Ijamilusi and Janet Akekoromowei among those who have recently joined the squad.

Comoros, meanwhile, arrived in Nigeria on Monday and have begun preparations in Ikenne ahead of Friday’s encounter.
