Tina Clayton and Sha’Carri Richardson Lead Women’s 100m Field at Brussels Diamond League Final

BRUSSELS, Belgium — A competitive women’s 100 metres field will line up at the 2026 Diamond League Final on Saturday, 5 September, with Jamaican talent Tina Clayton and American star Sha’Carri Richardson among the leading contenders.

The race forms part of the second day of the Allianz Memorial Van Damme at the King Baudouin Stadium, scheduled for approximately 20:14 CEST.

Confirmed startlist:

  • 🇯🇲 Tina Clayton
  • 🇺🇸 Sha’Carri Richardson
  • 🇬🇧 Amy Hunt
  • 🇯🇲 Jonielle Smith
  • 🇮🇹 Zaynab Dosso
  • 🇳🇿 Zoe Hobbs
  • 🇱🇺 Patrizia van der Weken
  • 🇧🇪 Delphine Nkansa
  • 🇭🇺 Boglárka Takács

The absence of Olympic champion Julien Alfred and world champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, both of whom have opted to skip the Brussels final, has opened the door for a more open contest. Alfred had dominated much of the Diamond League season and lowered her national record to 10.70 in Zurich, while Jefferson-Wooden sat top of the qualifying standings before withdrawing.

In their absence, Tina Clayton emerges as one of the strongest favourites. The Jamaican has been in excellent form throughout the campaign and finished just behind the top two in Zurich. Her consistent sub-11 performances and championship experience make her a serious threat for the Diamond Trophy.

Sha’Carri Richardson will be eager to end her season on a high. The American produced a solid third-place finish in Zurich and remains one of the most explosive starters in the world. A strong showing in Brussels would provide valuable momentum heading into the later stages of the year.

Britain’s Amy Hunt has impressed with several personal bests this season and will look to capitalise on the reshaped field. Jamaica’s Jonielle Smith, Italy’s Zaynab Dosso, New Zealand’s Zoe Hobbs and Luxembourg’s Patrizia van der Weken all bring proven international quality. Home interest will centre on Belgian sprinter Delphine Nkansa, while Hungary’s Boglárka Takács completes a well-balanced line-up.

The Brussels final is a winner-takes-all event for the prestigious Diamond Trophy. With several athletes capable of running under 11 seconds and no clear dominant favourite, the women’s 100m is expected to produce a thrilling contest to close the Diamond League season.
