ARUSHA, Tanzania — Tanzanian Premier League side TRA United SC have parted ways with head coach Etienne Ndayiragije by mutual agreement, bringing an end to the Burundian coach’s spell in charge of the club.
The decision was announced by the club, which thanked Ndayiragije for his contribution, professionalism and commitment during his time with the team.
The club also wished the experienced coach success in the next chapter of his coaching career.
Ndayiragije had been an important figure in TRA United’s recent development and was in charge as the club competed against some of Tanzania’s leading sides in the NBC Premier League.
His tenure included a notable 4-1 victory over Azam FC in May 2026, a result that ended Azam’s unbeaten run at the time. The victory was particularly significant for Ndayiragije as he was facing his former club.
The coach was also in charge when TRA United held Young Africans (Yanga) to a goalless draw in March, with Ndayiragije praising his players for their performance against the reigning champions.
More recently, Ndayiragije continued to oversee TRA United during their league campaign, including the side's 2-1 defeat to Azam FC in August, where he acknowledged his opponents' efficiency in front of goal.
His departure therefore marks another coaching change for a TRA United side that has been seeking to establish itself as a competitive force in Tanzania's top flight.
Ndayiragije, who has previously worked in East African football, leaves the club with his coaching record in Tanzania having included several notable performances against established opponents.
TRA United are now expected to begin the process of identifying a new head coach as the club prepares for the next phase of its Premier League campaign.
The club has yet to publicly announce Ndayiragije’s replacement.
