Spain Defeat Falconets 2-0 in FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup Opener

POLAND — Nigeria’s Falconets suffered a 2-0 defeat to Spain in their opening Group F match at the 2026 FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup.

Spain took the lead in the 13th minute through Marisa García and sealed the victory with a second goal from Alba Cerrato in the 73rd minute.

The Spanish side controlled large periods of the contest and converted their chances efficiently to claim all three points in the Group F opener.

Nigeria, despite showing moments of promise, were unable to find a way back into the game and will now turn their attention to their next fixture.

The Falconets face China PR on Thursday, 10 September, with kick-off scheduled for 5pm Nigerian time.

Nigeria will be looking to bounce back quickly as they aim to keep their World Cup hopes alive in Group F.
