The Amakhosi were scheduled to face Stellenbosch in a Betway Premiership match on 17 October at FNB Stadium. That game will now be postponed after Red Arrows confirmed they will host the first leg of their second qualifying round tie on the same day.
The Zambian side will stage the match at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, 330 kilometres from their traditional home at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka, which does not meet CAF requirements. Chiefs will then host the second leg on the weekend of 23-25 October at a venue still to be confirmed.
The congested schedule continues thereafter. Chiefs must play their Carling KnockOut first-round match on 27 October before the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates on 31 October. Should they advance to the KnockOut quarter-finals, that fixture would also need to be completed before the November FIFA international window (9-17 November).
If Chiefs progress to the Confederation Cup group stage, three further continental matches before Christmas would affect their league fixtures against Chippa United (28 November), Milford (5 December) and Marumo Gallants (18 December).
The changes highlight the challenges of balancing domestic and continental commitments for South African clubs. Chiefs will now work with the Premier Soccer League to reschedule the affected matches as they prepare for a demanding period on two fronts.
