LONDON, England — Charlton Athletic have confirmed that goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has been called up to the Nigeria national team for the upcoming AFCON 2027 qualifiers.
The club announced the news on their social media platforms, wishing the shot-stopper well as he links up with the Super Eagles for the matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
Okonkwo’s inclusion offers him another opportunity to stake a claim in the Nigeria setup under the national team coaches. The young goalkeeper will be aiming to impress during the camp and push for minutes in the competitive fixtures.
Nigeria will look to collect maximum points from the double-header as they continue their qualifying campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles face Madagascar first before taking on Guinea-Bissau in the next round of matches.
