Ismael Toure scored the decisive goal in the 75th minute to give the Reds all three points in a match they dominated but struggled to convert into a more comfortable scoreline.
Dominant but Patient Display
Simba controlled proceedings from the outset, enjoying the vast majority of possession and creating a string of opportunities. The hosts recorded high numbers for shots and corners, yet found Coastal Union’s defence difficult to break down for long periods.
The breakthrough finally arrived 15 minutes from time when Toure found the net, sparking relief among the Simba supporters. The goal proved enough to secure the win as Coastal Union were unable to mount a meaningful response in the closing stages.
League Implications
The result lifts Simba to the top of the early standings with a maximum 12 points from four matches. The Reds have now won all four of their opening fixtures, continuing the efficient form that has seen them score consistently while remaining difficult to break down.
Coastal Union, by contrast, remain near the bottom of the table after another difficult afternoon. The Tanga-based side have struggled for results in the early part of the campaign and will need to find greater cutting edge if they are to climb the standings.
Looking Ahead
Simba will take confidence from another clean sheet and three points, even if the performance was not as free-flowing as in previous outings. The ability to grind out narrow victories is often a hallmark of title-challenging sides, and the Reds will hope this result marks another step in their bid to challenge for the championship.
For Coastal Union, the focus will turn to bouncing back quickly and picking up points against more favourable opposition as the season progresses.
