TURIN, Italy — AC Milan began their Serie A campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Sunday.
Alphadjo Cissé and Adrien Rabiot scored within three minutes of each other in the second half to put the Rossoneri in control, before Che Adams pulled a late goal back for the hosts in stoppage time.
The match remained goalless at half-time, with both sides creating limited clear chances. Milan improved after the break and took the lead in the 63rd minute through Cissé. Rabiot quickly doubled the advantage three minutes later, giving the visitors a comfortable cushion.
Torino pushed forward in search of a response and were rewarded deep into added time when Adams found the net in the 92nd minute. However, the late consolation proved insufficient as Milan held on for the three points.
The result provides a positive start for Milan under their new campaign. Cissé and Rabiot’s clinical finishing in a short space of time proved decisive in securing the win on the road.
Torino showed resilience and continued to threaten until the final whistle, but ultimately fell short against a Milan side that controlled key moments of the second half.
Milan will take confidence from the away victory as they look to build momentum in the early stages of the season. Torino, meanwhile, will seek an improved performance in their next fixture after a competitive but ultimately unsuccessful home display.
The opening weekend result leaves Milan with three points from their first match, while Torino begin the campaign with a narrow defeat.
