YAMOUSSOUKRO, Ivory Coast — Nigeria’s Flying Eagles produced a dominant second-half display to defeat Togo 3-0 and book their place in the semi-finals of the WAFU B U-20 Championship on Thursday.
The holders controlled the match after a cautious first half and ran out comfortable winners at the Lycée Scientifique stadium, maintaining a clean sheet in the process.
Both sides struggled to create clear chances before the interval, with the contest remaining goalless at the break. Nigeria emerged with greater intensity after the restart and quickly took control.
Muiz Adeleke broke the deadlock just a minute into the second half, finishing clinically in the 46th minute. The forward doubled his tally and Nigeria’s lead in the 58th minute, underlining his strong form in the competition.
Abdoulaye Agbegoye added a third goal in the 84th minute to complete a professional performance and put the result beyond doubt.
The victory takes the Flying Eagles to six points at the top of their group and confirms their progression to the last four of the tournament, which serves as the qualifying competition for the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria will now turn their attention to the remaining group fixture before the knockout stages.
