CAF President Patrice Motsepe will convene a meeting of the Executive Committee next week to assess and study the plan in detail. The confederation has also urged its Member Associations to examine the proposal and take part in the ongoing consultation process.
CAF has neither accepted nor rejected the initiative at this stage. Officials emphasised that the priority remains increasing financial resources for the development and growth of football across Africa.
The confederation said it remains committed to working with its members, FIFA, other confederations and stakeholders as consultations continue.
