The 2025 NWFL Championship, Nigeria's second-tier women's football league, officially got underway today with Matchday 1 action. The opening day saw several decisive results, while two matches were unfortunately postponed due to heavy downpours.
In the completed fixtures, Ahudiyannem secured a 2-0 victory over Pelican Stars. The day's only draw came in the match between Royal Queens and Gallant Queens, which ended in a goalless 0-0 stalemate.
Meanwhile, Wazbak earned a narrow 1-0 win against Chosen Generation, and Castmog Ladies put on a strong attacking performance to defeat First Mahi 3-1.
The matches between Sunshine and Fortress Ladies, as well as Delta Babes and Imo Striker, were halted due to adverse weather conditions. The NWFL has confirmed that both matches have been rescheduled and will be completed on Sunday, September 14.
