Nigeria’s Samuel Ogazi has clinched the NCAA Men’s 400m title, clocking a remarkable 44.84 seconds to win the final at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Running for the University of Alabama, the sophomore delivered a composed and powerful performance, finishing well ahead of his competitors. Gabriel Moronta of USF took second in 45.47s, while William Jones of USC placed third with 45.53s.
Ogazi's victory makes him only the second Nigerian man in history to win the NCAA Outdoor 400m title, following in the footsteps of Clement Chukwu, who claimed the crown in 1999. The 21-year-old’s triumph not only highlights his growing stature in the sport but also signals a bright future for Nigerian athletics on the world stage.
