Ethiopia Dominates Men's 10,000m Final at Douala 2024 African Championships

In a thrilling display of endurance and strategy, Ethiopian athletes claimed the top two spots in the Men's 10,000m event at the Douala 2024 African Championships held on June 22, 2024. Nibret Melak clinched the gold medal with a remarkable time of 28:52.27, closely followed by his compatriot Gemechu Dida who secured the silver in 28:52.79. The bronze medal went to Roncer Kipkorir Konga of Kenya, finishing just behind in 28:52.94. Here is the full results of Men's 10,000m final:

The race witnessed intense competition among some of Africa's finest long-distance runners, with Joseph Kiptum (KEN), Francis Abong (KEN), and William Amponsah (GHA) claiming the 4th, 5th, and 6th positions respectively. Hani Idriss Hersi of Djibouti and Elie Sindayikengera from Burundi also showcased their prowess, finishing 7th and 8th. Ishmal Arthur of Ghana and Pierre Tchoga of Cameroon completed the top ten, while Bienvenu Zepou of Chad closed the race in the 11th position with a time of 33:58.38.

The event highlighted Ethiopia's continuing dominance in long-distance running, reaffirming their status as a powerhouse in African athletics.
