Arribagé and Olivetti end Krawietz and Pütz’s Shanghai title defence

Shanghai, China — French duo Théo Arribagé and Albano Olivetti produced a commanding performance to defeat defending champions Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Rolex Shanghai Masters men’s doubles competition.

The eighth-seeded pair won 6–4, 6–4 on Wednesday, 14 October, eliminating the third seeds and bringing the German team’s title defence to an end. Their victory also strengthened their bid for a place in the tournament final.

French pair dominate defending champions

Arribagé and Olivetti delivered an effective serving performance against the experienced German partnership, winning the match in straight sets.

The French team struck 11 aces and won 89 per cent of points behind their first serve, putting consistent pressure on Krawietz and Pütz throughout the contest.

They also converted two of their three break-point opportunities, while preventing their opponents from converting any break points. Those figures helped the French pair secure the victory without requiring a deciding match tie-break.

Krawietz and Pütz suffer an early exit

Krawietz and Pütz arrived in Shanghai as defending champions and third seeds, having established themselves as a successful partnership on the ATP Tour.

Their elimination represents a significant change in the doubles draw, opening the way for another team to claim the Shanghai title.

Arribagé and Olivetti, meanwhile, continued their progress after reaching the quarter-finals, demonstrating their ability to compete against one of the tournament’s established partnerships.

• Francisco Cabral and James Tracy: Beat Robert Galloway and André Göransson 6–3, 6–4.

• Théo Arribagé and Albano Olivetti: Defeated Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz 6–4, 6–4.

These results underlined the competitive nature of the doubles draw, with the remaining teams looking to capitalise on the elimination of seeded contenders.

Shanghai Masters doubles race intensifies

The Rolex Shanghai Masters is an ATP Masters 1000 tournament played on hard courts in China. Its doubles competition attracts established specialists and partnerships looking to secure a major title during the Asian swing.

For Arribagé and Olivetti, defeating the defending champions was a major step forward in Shanghai. Their performance against Krawietz and Pütz showed the value of strong serving and taking advantage of limited opportunities on return.

With the defending champions eliminated, attention turned to the remaining contenders and the battle for a place in the final.
