Ghana desperate to revive AFCON qualification campaign

Ghana will enter the double-header against Somalia under pressure after losing their opening two Group C matches.

The Black Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Côte d'Ivoire before losing 4-2 to The Gambia at home, leaving them without a point from their first two fixtures.

They will be hoping to collect maximum points from the two meetings with Somalia to revive their qualification hopes.

The first encounter, with Ghana as the designated home team, is scheduled for Thursday, 12 November, at 15:00 GMT at the same Essipong venue. Central African Republic referee Andre Onesime Kolissala-Mbangui has been appointed for that fixture.

Somalia will also use Essipong as their designated home ground for the return meeting on 16 November because they do not have a CAF-approved stadium at home.

The top two teams in Group C will qualify for the 2027 AFCON finals, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
