Ibadan, Nigeria — Kano Pillars held Shooting Stars to a goalless draw at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Wednesday as the two sides shared the points in their rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 3 encounter.
The 0-0 draw extended Shooting Stars’ winless run, while Kano Pillars maintained their unbeaten start to the 2026/27 NPFL season and ended a nine-year wait for an away point against the Oluyole Warriors.
Few clear-cut chances in Ibadan
Shooting Stars enjoyed the greater share of possession but struggled to turn their dominance into goals against a well-organised Kano Pillars defence.
The hosts had 65 per cent possession and registered more attacking activity, but the visitors remained disciplined throughout the encounter to secure a valuable point on the road.
The clearest opportunity of the match arrived in the ninth minute, when Shooting Stars' Friday Ubong saw his header cleared off the line.
Neither side could find the breakthrough thereafter as the match ended without a goal.
Kano Pillars end nine-year wait
The draw was particularly significant for Kano Pillars, who picked up their first point away to Shooting Stars in nine years.
Their previous unbeaten visit to Ibadan came on 7 June 2017, when the corresponding fixture also ended 0-0.
Pillars had subsequently lost their next four visits to Shooting Stars, scoring just once while conceding six goals during that sequence.
The latest result therefore represents an important point for the Kano side as they continue their unbeaten run.
Contrasting fortunes continue
Kano Pillars entered the fixture having gone unbeaten in their previous six league matches, recording two wins and four draws.
Shooting Stars, meanwhile, were looking to end a difficult run after going four matches without a victory.
The stalemate means the Oluyole Warriors have now failed to win their last five league matches, following two defeats and three draws across that sequence.
Pillars climb to sixth
The point moves Kano Pillars to sixth position with 11 points from seven matches.
Shooting Stars remain in the lower half of the table with eight points from seven games, currently occupying 14th position according to the latest standings reported after the rescheduled fixture.
Both teams will now turn their attention to their next league fixtures.
Shooting Stars travel to face Kun Khalifat on Sunday, while Kano Pillars visit Plateau United in Jos on the same day.
