Senegal FA president backs Morocco to host 2030 World Cup final

Senegalese Football Federation president Abdoulaye Fall has backed Morocco's bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup final, saying the North African country has the infrastructure and experience required to stage the tournament's showpiece match.

Fall made the comments in an interview with Le360 Sport, arguing that a World Cup final in Morocco would represent a major moment for African football.

“Morocco has all the facilities to host the 2030 World Cup final, and it will be a victory for the whole of Africa,” Fall said.

The Senegalese FA president highlighted Morocco's investment in football infrastructure, including the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora, as well as its transport network, hotels and stadiums.

He also pointed to Morocco's experience of hosting major international sporting competitions, saying the country has demonstrated the organisational expertise needed for an event of the World Cup's scale.

The 2030 World Cup will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal, with Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay also staging centenary celebration matches. FIFA has yet to determine the venue for the final.

Morocco is pushing for the final to be played at the planned Hassan II Stadium in Benslimane. The proposed stadium is expected to accommodate around 115,000 spectators and has become the centrepiece of Morocco's campaign for the tournament's decisive match.

Spanish football officials have also expressed interest in hosting the final in Spain, meaning the location remains an issue to be decided through FIFA's process.

Fall believes awarding the final to Morocco would have significance beyond the host country, describing it as an opportunity to showcase Africa's growing role in global football.

A World Cup final in Morocco would also come 20 years after South Africa became the first African nation to host the men's FIFA World Cup in 2010.

For now, Morocco's bid remains a proposal rather than a confirmed decision, with FIFA yet to announce where the 2030 World Cup final will be played.
