Pyramids FC beat Wadi Degla to maintain perfect Egyptian Premier League start

Cairo, Egypt — Pyramids FC continued their impressive run in the Egyptian Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Wadi Degla at the 30 June Stadium on Thursday, 29 October 2026.

Mahmoud Saber and Mostafa Zico scored for Rhulani Mokwena’s side, who came from behind after Ahmed Abdin had equalised for the visitors in the first half.

The result extended Pyramids’ winning streak to eight league matches, keeping them top of the table with 24 points from eight games.

Saber gives Pyramids early advantage

Pyramids made a positive start and took the lead in the 11th minute through Mahmoud Saber.

The midfielder collected the ball outside the penalty area before unleashing a powerful left-footed strike into the bottom-left corner to put the hosts ahead.

Pyramids continued to look dangerous, but Wadi Degla gradually found their rhythm and began creating opportunities of their own.

Their pressure paid off in the 38th minute when Ahmed Abdin rose to meet a free-kick delivery from Hamza Hassan and headed home to restore parity.

The equaliser ensured both teams went into the half-time break level at 1-1.

Zico restores Pyramids' lead

Pyramids returned for the second half determined to regain control, and their response came in the 58th minute.

Mostafa Zico finished a low cross from Mohanad Lasheen with a left-footed effort into the centre of the goal, restoring the hosts' advantage at 2-1.

The goal proved decisive as Wadi Degla struggled to find another equaliser despite pushing forward during the closing stages.

Pyramids made several substitutions to protect their lead, while the visitors introduced fresh attacking options in an attempt to change the outcome.

However, Mokwena’s men held firm to secure all three points.

Pyramids extend lead at the top

The victory took Pyramids FC to 24 points from eight matches, maintaining their 100 per cent record in the Egyptian Premier League.

They moved four points clear of second-placed Al Ahly, who defeated Modern Sport 1-0 earlier on Thursday.

Wadi Degla, meanwhile, remained in 14th position with seven points after suffering another defeat.

Pyramids will next face Al Ahly away from home on 23 November, following the international break, in a fixture that could have an important bearing on the title race.
