The agreement, which is reportedly in the final stages of completion, would give the competition a title sponsor for the first time since Hero MotoCorp ended its association with the ISL after the 2022–23 season.
Once completed, the league is expected to be branded the MG Indian Super League, with the MG logo also set to appear on the competition's crest.
The reported agreement is understood to run for the next two seasons, beginning with the 2026–27 campaign. MG cars are also expected to be awarded to the league's best players at the end of each season.
ISL enters new commercial era
The sponsorship comes as the ISL enters a new phase under a more club-led structure, with participating teams taking greater responsibility for the competition's commercial and operational affairs.
The 2026–27 season is scheduled to begin on 10 October, with Bengaluru FC hosting Sporting Club Delhi before FC Goa face Chennaiyin FC later the same day. The first phase contains 78 matches and runs until 17 January 2027.
The league has also secured a four-year partnership with Sportradar reportedly worth around ₹57 crore, while Nivia Sports remains an official ball and equipment partner.
Parth Jindal's connection to MG Motor
The reported sponsorship comes shortly after Parth Jindal was appointed chairman of JSW MG Motor India.
JSW MG Motor India confirmed that Jindal took over as chairman on 31 August 2026. He has served on the company's board since the joint venture between JSW Group and SAIC Motor was formed.
Jindal is also the founder of JSW Sports, which owns and operates Bengaluru FC, one of the clubs competing in the ISL.
There is currently no confirmed information establishing that Jindal was personally involved in negotiating the reported sponsorship agreement.
Hero's long association ended in 2023
Hero MotoCorp was the ISL's title sponsor from the competition's inaugural season in 2014 until the end of the 2022–23 campaign.
The league subsequently operated without a title sponsor for three seasons. If the reported MG agreement is completed, the partnership will restore a title sponsor to India's top football league ahead of the new campaign.
The 2026–27 ISL season will therefore begin with a new commercial identity, subject to the completion and formal announcement of the MG Motor agreement.
