NAIROBI, Kenya — Harambee Starlets face Seychelles today in the first leg of the 2028 CAF Women’s Olympic Qualifiers, with kick-off at 15:00 local time (13:00 WAT) at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
The return is on Monday, 12 October, also in Nairobi and also at 15:00. Both legs are at Ulinzi. The winner goes through to the next stage of Africa’s qualifying path to the women’s football tournament at Los Angeles 2028.
Interim head coach Godfrey Oduor has cut a provisional list of 43 to a final squad of 24. Defender Hellen Ochieng, one of five players given a first senior call-up, is the only one of that group to survive. She comes in from Shabana Starlets and will compete in a back line that includes Ruth Ingosi, Norah Ann, Leah Andiema, Vivian Nasaka, Enez Mango, Janet Mumo, Wincate Kaari and Elizabeth Muteshi.
Vivian Corazone Aquino and Jentrix Shikangwa are back. Aquino joins Fasila Adhiambo, Mwanahalima Adam Jereko, Mercy Airo, Martha Amunyolete, Sheryl Angachi and Marion Serenge in midfield. Shikangwa, recently signed by FC Masar, returns in attack. Lilian Awuor is the experienced goalkeeper, with Annedy Kundu and Vivian Shiyonzo in reserve. Among those left out are Lavender Akinyi, Elizabeth Ochaka, Lorna Nyarinda and Tereza Engesha.
Kenya are at home for both legs, which removes the travel and puts the tie in front of their own crowd twice. Seychelles still have to be beaten over 180 minutes. This is Oduor’s first assignment. Ochieng’s first senior window starts this afternoon.
