Godwin Obaje reaches 100 NPFL goals with match-winning penalty for Rangers

Enugu Rangers striker Godwin Obaje has reached the remarkable milestone of 100 goals in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), sealing the achievement with a match-winning penalty against Warri Wolves.

The 30-year-old scored from the spot in the 11th minute to give Rangers a 1–0 victory over Warri Wolves in Ozoro, Delta State, on Wednesday.

Rangers celebrated the landmark on social media, describing the moment as history made in Delta State.

Obaje’s 100 NPFL goals

Obaje’s century has come across five NPFL clubs, according to the breakdown provided:

• Rangers: 35 goals

• Wikki Tourists: 25 goals

• Abia Warriors: 23 goals

• FC Ifeanyi Ubah: 16 goals

• Plateau United: 1 goal

The forward began his professional career with Wikki Tourists in 2014 before spells with FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Plateau United, Abia Warriors and Rangers. He also played abroad in Slovakia, Tunisia, Ethiopia and Oman.

Obaje finished as the NPFL’s top scorer in 2016, when he netted 18 goals.

His latest strike not only secured three points for Rangers but also brought him to the 100-goal mark in Nigeria’s top-flight league.

Rangers are scheduled to return to Enugu following their historic away victory.
