Atlanta produced a powerful offensive display at Truist Park, with Michael Harris II, Ozzie Albies and Matt Olson all hitting home runs as the Braves secured a 2-1 series victory.
Harris sets the tone
The Braves made a fast start against Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola.
After Nola walked Ronald Acuña Jr. and Matt Olson in the opening inning, Harris launched a three-run homer to right-centre field to give Atlanta a 3-0 lead.
Nola was removed in the second inning after allowing three runs in just 1⅔ innings.
Atlanta extended its advantage in the fourth inning when Albies crushed a two-run homer off Zack Wheeler, sending the Braves 5-0 ahead.
Olson then added another solo home run in the seventh to make it 6-1.
Braves pitching shuts down Phillies
Atlanta's pitching staff also played a major role in the victory.
Ray Kerr made his postseason debut and delivered 3⅓ scoreless innings, allowing only one hit and one walk. Grant Holmes followed with two innings, while Chris Sale entered late to record the final four outs and close out the victory.
Philadelphia scored twice, with Kyle Schwarber coming home on Alec Bohm's groundout in the sixth before Trea Turner's sacrifice fly brought home Derek Hill in the eighth.
However, the Phillies could not produce a late comeback as Atlanta's pitching closed out the series.
Braves set up Dodgers showdown
The victory sends Atlanta into the best-of-five National League Division Series, where they will face the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
Game 1 is scheduled for Saturday at Dodger Stadium.
The Braves' victory also ended Philadelphia's postseason campaign after the Phillies had forced a decisive Game 3 with a 4-3 extra-inning victory in Game 2.
