Simba SC Maintain Perfect Start with 2-0 Victory Over Geita Gold

DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania — Simba SC continued their flawless beginning to the 2026/27 Tanzanian Premier League season with a professional 2-0 home win over newly promoted Geita Gold at the Isamuhyo Stadium on Monday.

Goals from Clatous Chama and Libasse Guèye secured the three points and extended the Dar es Salaam giants’ perfect record to five wins from five matches. The result takes Simba onto 15 points, level at the summit with arch-rivals Young Africans.

Chama opened the scoring in the 21st minute, finishing clinically to give the hosts an early advantage. Simba controlled large periods of the first half and went into the interval leading 1-0. After the break they remained patient and clinical, with Guèye adding the second goal in the 58th minute to put the result beyond doubt.

The hosts dominated possession and created the clearer chances throughout. Simba’s defensive organisation once again proved solid, extending their strong start to the campaign in which they have conceded just two goals across five league fixtures.

Geita Gold, who earned promotion by winning the Championship last season, arrived in the capital with seven points from their opening four matches. The visitors showed organisation but ultimately struggled to contain Simba’s intensity and movement. The defeat leaves them on seven points from five games.

The early title race already has the familiar look of a two-horse contest between the two traditional powerhouses. Young Africans sit top with a superior goal difference after five successive victories, while Simba remain firmly in contention and have yet to drop a point. Mbeya City occupy third place on nine points from four matches.

Simba’s strong domestic form comes as they also prepare for continental commitments. The Reds will look to carry this momentum into the next round of fixtures while maintaining their position among the early pace-setters in the Ligi Kuu Bara.

For Geita Gold the focus shifts to improving results and adapting more effectively to the demands of top-flight football. The newly promoted side have shown moments of promise but face a steep learning curve against the established elite.

The victory underlines Simba’s status as one of the teams to beat this season and keeps their 100 per cent record intact at a crucial early stage of the campaign.
