Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates dominate the selection, reflecting their strong domestic form. Several Europe-based players, including Lyle Foster, Thapelo Maseko, Relebohile Mofokeng and Olwethu Makhanya, have also earned call-ups.
The squad will be trimmed ahead of the double-header, with South Africa aiming to secure maximum points in their Group G campaign. Mosimane’s side face Guinea on 26 September at Orlando Stadium before travelling to take on Eritrea.
The preliminary list underlines Mosimane’s preference for a mix of experience and youthful energy as Bafana Bafana look to build momentum towards the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
