The 26-year-old put pen to paper on the new deal following a meeting with club officials, formalising his stay beyond the end of his previous agreement. The extension rewards Shobeir’s consistent performances for the Red Devils and his impressive displays for Egypt at the recent FIFA World Cup.
A product of Al Ahly’s youth academy, Shobeir has established himself as a reliable presence between the posts. He has made more than 70 first-team appearances for the club, keeping a high number of clean sheets and contributing to multiple domestic and continental titles, including Egyptian Premier League crowns and CAF Champions League successes.
His form earned him the starting role for the Pharaohs at the World Cup, where Egypt reached the round of 16. Shobeir produced several notable saves during the tournament, including penalty stops against high-profile opponents, helping the national team progress from the group stage before their eventual elimination.
Al Ahly have moved quickly to lock in key members of their squad in recent weeks, with Shobeir becoming one of several players to commit their long-term futures to the club. The goalkeeper expressed his satisfaction at continuing his career with the Egyptian giants, describing the extension as an important step in his journey with the team.
The new contract provides stability in a crucial position as Al Ahly continue to compete on multiple fronts domestically and in African competitions. Shobeir’s development from academy prospect to established first-team and international goalkeeper underlines the club’s successful pathway for young talent.
With the deal now finalised, the shot-stopper will remain a central figure in Al Ahly’s plans through to 2029, offering continuity and experience at the back as the club pursues further silverware.
