OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso — Ghanaian forward Milot Abena Pokuaa was named Woman of the Match after an outstanding performance that helped Ampem Darkoa Ladies secure a commanding 4-1 victory over Dynamique FC in the second semi-final of the WAFU-B CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers.
The 21-year-old, wearing the number 21 jersey, produced a decisive display of influence, control and leadership at the Stade du 4 Août. She opened the scoring in the 17th minute and later completed her brace in the 66th minute, ensuring Ampem Darkoa progressed to the final with a dominant performance.
Following the final whistle, Abena received her trophy from Mr Philippe Tchere, Executive Director of UFOA-B (WAFU Zone B), in recognition of her decisive impact on the match. The presentation underlined the quality of her contribution as the Ghanaian side took control early and never looked back.
Abena’s first goal set the tone for a one-sided first half in which Ampem Darkoa established a three-goal lead. Her second strike after the interval effectively ended any hopes of a Dynamique comeback and sealed progression to the final. Throughout the contest she combined sharp movement, clinical finishing and strong link-up play, embodying the attacking fluency that has characterised Ampem Darkoa’s campaign.
The award adds to a strong individual tournament for the forward, who has been one of the standout performers for the Ghanaian champions. Ampem Darkoa entered the semi-final with a perfect group-stage record and continued their momentum with a clinical display against the Beninese side.
Ampem Darkoa will now face Nigeria’s Edo Queens in the final, a rematch of their recent group-stage encounter which the Ghanaian side won 2-1. The winner of that showpiece will claim the regional title and secure qualification for the main CAF Women’s Champions League.
Abena’s recognition as Woman of the Match highlights both her personal excellence and the collective strength of a side that has impressed throughout the qualifiers in Burkina Faso. Her ability to deliver in high-stakes matches will be crucial once again when Ampem Darkoa step out for the final later this week.
