The 34-year-old former World No. 1 shared the news on social media on Wednesday, confirming that the recent US Open was the final tournament of his career.
“I haven’t posted anything for a while but I wanted to share some news. I’ve decided I’m retiring from professional tennis. I’ve been thinking about it for a while and am now very happy with the decision,” Salisbury wrote on Instagram.
“Tennis has been my life for as long as I can remember and I have been incredibly fortunate to have had all the opportunities, experiences and success that I have. To be able to travel the world and call playing tennis my job has been a dream come true and I never believed I could have lived the life and had the career that I have. I gave it my all and know I can be proud and look back with no regrets.”
Salisbury’s announcement comes just one week after his long-time partner Rajeev Ram also retired following their run to the semi-finals of the 2026 US Open. The pair formed one of the most successful doubles teams of the past decade.
Together, Salisbury and Ram captured back-to-back Nitto ATP Finals titles in 2022 and 2023 and won three consecutive US Open crowns between 2021 and 2023. They also claimed the 2020 Australian Open title and lifted three ATP Masters 1000 trophies.
Of Salisbury’s 17 tour-level doubles titles, 14 came alongside Ram. The Briton first reached the summit of the PIF ATP Doubles Rankings in 2022.
Before turning professional, Salisbury played college tennis at the University of Memphis. He expressed deep gratitude to those who supported him throughout his journey, including his family, coaching team, the LTA, and especially Ram.
“The best thing about it all has been the people I’ve met along the way and shared these times with… I’m not sure what’s next for me but I know I have so much to look forward to,” he added.
Salisbury leaves the sport as one of Britain’s most accomplished doubles players of his generation, with a legacy defined by consistency, major titles, and a lasting partnership with Ram.
