ŁÓDŹ, Poland — Eight of the 16 last-16 places are already decided at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, with Groups A and B complete and several sides locked in from Groups D, E and F.
The last 16 begins on 16 September. Group winners and runners-up qualify automatically, plus the four best third-placed teams.
Qualified for the Round of 16
Confirmed group winners / runners-up
- Poland (Group A winners, 9 points)
- Argentina (Group A runners-up, 6 points)
- Brazil (Group B winners, 9 points)
- England (Group B runners-up, 4 points)
- Italy (Group D winners, 6 points from two games)
- North Korea (Group E winners, 6 points from two games)

Best third place so far
- Canada (Group B third, 4 points, +3 GD) — already among the four best thirds
Canada finished level with England on points, goal difference and goals scored (both 7-4). England are listed as group runners-up; Canada’s four-point haul is enough to progress as a third-placed side.

- Mexico (Group A, 1 point, –2)
- Tanzania (Group B, 0 points, –13)
- New Caledonia (Group F, 0 points after 5-0 and 11-0 defeats; they play Nigeria on Sunday but cannot realistically overtake the best thirds)
Still to be decided
Group C (final games today, 12 September)
France 4 pts, Ecuador 3, Ghana 3, South Korea 1. Ghana face France and South Korea play Ecuador.
Group D (today)
Italy already through. Japan (4 pts) play Italy; USA (1 pt) play New Zealand (0).
Group E (Sunday)
North Korea through. Colombia (4 pts) play North Korea; Portugal (1 pt) play Costa Rica (0).
Group F (Sunday)
Spain through. China (4 pts) play Spain; Nigeria (1 point, 0-2 after a 2-0 loss to Spain and 0-0 with China) play New Caledonia.
Nigeria must beat New Caledonia and then hope their third-place ranking holds when Groups C, D and E finish.
