The People’s Elephant made a fast start, taking the lead in the seventh minute through Richard Ezinna.
Enyimba continued to dominate and doubled their advantage in the 29th minute when Damian Chibueze found the net.
The hosts added a third goal seven minutes later, with Idris Abubakar scoring in the 36th minute to give Enyimba a commanding 3–0 lead at half-time.
Enyimba picked up where they left off after the restart, extending their advantage to four goals in the 49th minute through Ifeanyi Ihemekwele.
Shooting Stars eventually found a response in the 76th minute, when Mustapha Adams Agba’a pulled one back for the visitors.
Johnmark Aule then scored in the first minute of stoppage time to reduce the deficit to 4–2, but Enyimba held on to secure maximum points.

The match was originally scheduled for Matchday 2 before being postponed to allow Shooting Stars to focus on their CAF Confederation Cup commitments.
