Audrey Werro Wins World Ultimate Women’s 800m Title in 1:55.88

BUDAPEST, Hungary — Switzerland’s Audrey Werro claimed the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship women’s 800 metres title with a front-running display that produced 1:55.88.

Great Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson finished second in 1:56.26. The Netherlands’ Femke Broeders-Bol took bronze in 1:56.74.

Werro went gun-to-tape at the Gyula Zsivótzky National Athletics Centre and stayed undefeated outdoors in 2026. Hodgkinson, the Olympic champion, closed hard but could not haul the Swiss athlete back.

The win came on a night when Poland’s Klaudia Kazimierska took the women’s 1,500m in 3:57.55. Earlier in the meeting, Mondo Duplantis and Jakob Ingebrigtsen had already collected Ultimate titles.

Broeders-Bol completed a high-quality podium in 1:56.74, underlining the depth of the field assembled for the new championship.

The three-day World Athletics Ultimate Championship, offering a $10 million prize pool across 28 events, continues in Budapest through Sunday.
