KITWE, Zambia — Al Merrikh advanced to the next round of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League after a 1-0 away victory over Power Dynamos on Saturday, completing a 2-0 aggregate success.
The Sudanese club had won the first leg 1-0 last weekend. They repeated the scoreline in Kitwe to eliminate the Zambian champions without conceding over two matches.
The second-leg goal arrived in the 51st minute through Feno Hasina. Power Dynamos, who reached the group stage last season, could not break down Al Merrikh’s defence.
The winner of the tie will face either JS Saoura of Algeria or Horoya of Guinea in the second preliminary round, scheduled for 16–18 October (first leg) and 23–25 October (return).
Power Dynamos were drawn against Al Merrikh in the first preliminary round after an impressive CAF run last term. They hosted the return after travelling for the opening fixture.
Al Merrikh have now posted back-to-back clean-sheet wins in the competition and move a step closer to the group stage of Africa’s premier club tournament.
