Ouaddou's Pirates recorded three wins and one draw in four matches, earning the Moroccan tactician the first Coach of the Month award of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
The award continues an impressive run of individual recognition for Ouaddou, who also claimed the Coach of the Month award in May after leading Orlando Pirates to an unbeaten finish and helping the club secure the Betway Premiership title. The Premier Soccer League confirmed that its monthly award winners are selected by an independent panel of PSL-accredited journalists and broadcasters.
Ouaddou's impressive August record
Under the Moroccan coach, Pirates produced consistent results throughout their opening four league fixtures.
• Matches: 4
• Wins: 3
• Draws: 1
• Defeats: 0
The unbeaten run underlined Pirates' strong start as they began their title defence with momentum and defensive solidity.
Ouaddou's achievement is particularly notable given the expectations surrounding the Soweto giants following their success last season. The coach guided Pirates to a historic domestic treble, winning the league title, MTN8 and Nedbank Cup during the 2025/26 campaign.
Another award for Ouaddou
The latest accolade adds to what has already been a remarkable period for the former Morocco international.
Ouaddou's first season at Orlando Pirates ended with the club claiming the league championship and ending a 14-year wait for the Betway Premiership title. His success also earned him previous monthly awards during the campaign.
The Moroccan coach's overall record at Pirates has been equally impressive. After reaching 50 matches in charge in August, he had recorded 36 wins, 10 draws and just four defeats, while leading the club to three trophies.
His latest Coach of the Month award therefore reflects not only Pirates' excellent August results but also the consistency he has established since taking charge.
Pirates' strong start continues
For Orlando Pirates, Ouaddou's award comes alongside recognition for Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya of AmaZulu, who was named Player of the Month after scoring five goals in four matches, while Mamelodi Sundowns forward Brayan León claimed Goal of the Month for his spectacular volley against AmaZulu.
With the season still in its early stages, Ouaddou will now look to maintain Pirates' momentum as the champions attempt to defend their league crown and compete on multiple fronts.
Abdeslam Ouaddou's August record:
• 4 games
• 3 wins
• 1 draw
• 0 defeats
• Betway Premiership Coach of the Month — August 2026
For a coach who already delivered a historic treble in his first season, the latest award provides further evidence of Ouaddou's growing influence at Orlando Pirates.
