DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania — Defending champions Young Africans SC continued their flawless beginning to the 2026/27 Tanzania Premier League season with a comfortable 2-0 win over Pamba Jiji at the KMC Stadium on Friday evening.
First-half goals from Maxi Nzengeli and C. Toure secured all three points for the Jangwani Street giants, extending their perfect record to four victories from four matches. The result takes Yanga onto 12 points, level at the top of the table with arch-rivals Simba SC, though the champions hold a superior goal difference of +11.
Nzengeli opened the scoring in the 17th minute, finishing a well-worked move to give Yanga an early advantage. Just six minutes later, C. Toure doubled the lead with a clinical strike, putting the hosts firmly in control before the half-hour mark. The second half saw Yanga manage the game professionally, limiting Pamba to few clear opportunities and protecting their clean sheet.
The victory continues a dominant start for Yanga, who have now scored 13 goals and conceded only two in their opening four fixtures. Previous results included a 3-1 win at Namungo, a 4-1 home victory over Coastal Union and a 4-0 thrashing of JKT Tanzania.
Pamba, by contrast, remain near the foot of the table. The visitors have collected just one point from four matches and have struggled defensively, conceding seven goals so far this season. Historical records also favoured the home side, with Yanga having won all previous competitive meetings against Pamba without conceding.
The result keeps the early title race tightly contested. Simba also sit on 12 points after four wins, while Mbeya City occupy third place on nine points. Azam FC and several other sides remain in close contention as the season begins to take shape.
Yanga, who claimed a record-equalling fifth consecutive league title last season, have shown the same attacking fluency and defensive organisation that made them champions. Their early form suggests they will once again be the team to beat as the campaign progresses.
The champions will now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, with continental commitments also on the horizon. For Pamba, the focus shifts to improving results and climbing away from the lower reaches of the table.
The win underlines Yanga’s status as the early pace-setters in the Tanzania Premier League and reinforces their position as one of East Africa’s most consistent club sides.
