The reigning champions began their title defence with a 1-1 draw against Maroons FC in the first leg of their quarter-final tie at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. They return to the same venue this week for the decisive second leg.
SC Villa lifted the previous edition of the competition after defeating NEC FC in the final, adding another piece of silverware to their history and setting the tone for their ambitions ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Despite the opening-leg draw, Owori remains confident the team is focused on progressing and maintaining their winning mentality.
“We have very big ambitions and we are prepared for every tournament and match ahead,” the skipper said.
Owori, one of the most experienced players in the squad, has taken on a key leadership role and is guiding the younger members of the team.
“Being the most experienced player in the team has given me a chance to talk to the young players and they are responding well.”
The captain stressed that the club’s target remains consistent regardless of squad rotation.
“Our target is to win every trophy we participate in regardless of the players we are using.”
A place in the next round awaits the winner of the tightly contested tie, with SC Villa aiming to take another step towards retaining the title they won last season.
