KIGALI, Rwanda — The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has awarded Rwanda the hosting rights for the CECAFA Kagame Cup for the next two years.
The award follows Rwanda’s successful hosting of the 2026 edition of the competition. The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) formally requested the opportunity to organise the next two editions, a request that was approved by the CECAFA Executive Committee.
The CECAFA Kagame Cup, which has enjoyed the long-standing support of Rwandan President Paul Kagame since 2002, continues to serve as an important platform for top clubs in the region to prepare for CAF competitions.
In the same meeting, CECAFA also invited member associations interested in hosting the Senior Challenge Cup to submit their expressions of interest.
The confirmation of Rwanda as hosts for 2027 and 2028 provides continuity for the competition and reflects confidence in the country’s organisational capacity after the successful staging of this year’s tournament.
