Speaking on Spanish radio programme El Larguero, agent Pablo Barquero revealed that the Spain international had made his decision clear in recent hours.
“Real Madrid presented an important proposal. They were so class, but Rodri confirmed in recent hours his decision to pick Barcelona as the best option,” Barquero said. He added that the player wanted to be transparent “to respect Real Madrid and without hiding from his responsibilities.”
Personal terms between Rodri and Barcelona have already been agreed. The 30-year-old World Cup winner is now expected to push for a move to the Camp Nou, with negotiations between Barcelona and Manchester City still to be finalised.
Real Madrid had been leading the race for several weeks, but Barcelona’s late intervention and conversations with coach Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco proved decisive.
