Rayon Sports Edge Al Hilal to Seal Semi-Final Spot in CECAFA Kagame Cup

KIGALI, Rwanda — Rayon Sports booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Sudanese giants Al Hilal SC at Amahoro Stadium on Saturday evening.

Togolese forward Atisso Kodjo scored the decisive goal in the 17th minute, finishing clinically after an assist from Emmanuel Nshimiyimana to give the Rwandan side, nicknamed Gikundiro, a lead they never relinquished.

The result saw Rayon Sports finish top of Group C with a perfect record, while Al Hilal SC also advanced to the last four as the second-placed team from the group.

Rayon Sports will now face South Sudan’s Jamus SC in the semi-finals on Tuesday, 4 August. The other semi-final will pit Kenya’s Gor Mahia against Al Hilal SC.

The victory crowns a strong group campaign for the Blues, who had already recorded wins over KVZ of Zanzibar and Tusker FC of Kenya. Al Hilal, who entered the tournament as one of the favourites and main sponsors, had previously beaten Tusker 2-0 and KVZ 4-0 before falling short against the hosts.

Both sides progress to the knockout stage of the regional club competition, which continues in Kigali.
