Gor Mahia Chairman Congratulates Squad After Kagame Cup Final Defeat

NAIROBI, Kenya — Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has praised the players and technical staff for guiding the club to the CECAFA Kagame Cup final, despite falling short against Rayon Sports in the title decider.

Speaking after the final, Rachier expressed pride in the team’s overall campaign and performance on the day.

“I want to congratulate Gor Mahia and the whole technical bench for getting to the final. It was not a very easy task to achieve, and even on the final day, we did not just have to win; we played very well. We were 70% in control, but such is football,” Rachier said.

Positive View on Officiating

The Gor Mahia chairman also offered a favourable assessment of the refereeing standards throughout the tournament.

“As far as the officiating is concerned, I think it was great. The referees made good decisions; it can never be 100%, but it was generally good officiating,” he added.

Strong Tournament Campaign

Gor Mahia’s run to the final represented a significant achievement in a competitive CECAFA Kagame Cup. Although the K’Ogalas were unable to lift the trophy after a hard-fought final against the Rwandan hosts, Rachier’s comments reflected satisfaction with the team’s effort and approach.

The club will now turn its attention to domestic commitments, with the positive showing in regional competition providing a platform to build on.
