The 47-year-old English official, who retired last month after a distinguished 20-year career, will lead the strategic and technical development of elite refereeing within the TFF’s Central Refereeing Committee (MHK).
Taylor will be responsible for the development of top-level referees, strengthening performance assessment systems, enhancing education programmes, improving match analysis and feedback processes, and aligning Turkish refereeing with UEFA and FIFA standards.
His final match as a referee was Spain’s 1-0 victory over Portugal in the last-16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Across his career, he officiated hundreds of Premier League games and major international tournaments including Euro 2020, the 2022 World Cup and the 2026 World Cup.
Taylor said he was “delighted” to take up the role and looked forward to contributing to the continued development of match officials in Turkey.
