ENUGU, Nigeria — The Nigeria Premier Football League has made the creation and maintenance of functional websites a mandatory requirement for club licensing ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Clubs that fail to establish and keep an active, regularly updated website risk losing their licence to participate in the NPFL. The directive forms part of broader efforts to improve club branding, fan engagement, transparency and commercial appeal across the league.
NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi outlined the requirement during a marketing and media workshop for club officials. He stressed that a strong digital presence is now essential in modern football and that clubs will be expected to provide links to their official websites during the registration process for the new season.
Owumi noted that accessible and credible online information about clubs, players and activities is crucial for attracting sponsors, investors and scouts, while also enhancing the global visibility of the league.
All NPFL clubs have been put on notice to comply with the new licensing standard before the campaign kicks off.
