Late Drama in Warsaw! Poland Snatch Injury-Time Draw Against Nigeria in Thrilling 2-2 Friendly Clash

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were denied victory in dramatic fashion on Wednesday night after Poland scored a stoppage-time equaliser to force a 2-2 draw in an entertaining international friendly at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw.

Nigeria looked set for an impressive away victory after goals from Terem Moffi and Paul Onuachu gave Eric Chelle’s men the advantage, but a late strike from Przemyslaw Wisniewski rescued a draw for the hosts deep into added time.

The Super Eagles started brightly and took the lead in the 25th minute through the lively Terem Moffi, who finished calmly after Nigeria’s attacking pressure unsettled the Polish defence.

Poland responded just before half-time when Kacper Potulski found the back of the net in first-half stoppage time to make it 1-1 heading into the break.

Nigeria returned strongly in the second half and regained the lead in the 77th minute after Paul Onuachu converted from the penalty spot to put the visitors ahead once again.

Just when it appeared Nigeria would leave Warsaw with a famous win, Poland struck in the 90+5th minute through Wisniewski, whose late effort broke Nigerian hearts and ensured the match ended level.

Despite the late disappointment, the Super Eagles produced another encouraging performance under coach Eric Chelle, showing attacking quality and resilience against a strong Polish side led by Robert Lewandowski.

The result continues Nigeria’s preparations for upcoming international assignments as Chelle continues to assess his squad following recent positive displays in the Unity Cup competition.
