Florent Ibenge Set to Become Mali Head Coach After Agreement With Mali FA

The Mali Football Federation have reportedly reached an agreement to appoint Florent Ibenge as the new head coach of the Mali national team, marking a major managerial move ahead of upcoming international competitions.

The experienced Congolese tactician is expected to leave Azam FC to take charge of the Eagles following successful talks with the Mali FA. Reports indicate that Ibenge emerged as the leading candidate after being shortlisted among several applicants for the role.

Ibenge arrives with an impressive coaching résumé built across African football. The 64-year-old enjoyed a successful spell with RS Berkane, where he guided the club to CAF Confederation Cup glory, further strengthening his reputation as one of Africa’s most respected coaches.

He also made his mark with AS Vita Club and Al Hilal, while previously managing the DR Congo national football team. During his time with DR Congo, Ibenge led the side to the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) title and established himself as a tactically disciplined and experienced international manager.

Mali’s decision to move for Ibenge signals the federation’s ambition to build a stronger and more competitive national team capable of challenging for major continental honours. The Eagles possess a talented squad filled with emerging stars, and the federation believes Ibenge’s experience at both club and international level can help unlock the team’s full potential.

An official announcement from the Mali FA is expected soon as preparations continue for upcoming international fixtures and qualification campaigns.
