Femi Azeez Brace Fires Super Eagles Into Unity Cup Final With Dominant 2-0 Win Over Zimbabwe

Nigeria’s Super Eagles began their 2026 Unity Cup campaign in impressive fashion after defeating Zimbabwe 2-0 in the semi-final clash played in London, England on Tuesday night.

New invitee Femi Azeez emerged as the hero for the defending champions, scoring both goals to send the Super Eagles into the final of the four-nation tournament.

The Millwall winger opened the scoring as early as the 6th minute, giving Nigeria a dream start against the Warriors of Zimbabwe. Azeez continued to torment the Zimbabwean defence throughout the encounter before sealing the victory with his second goal in the 63rd minute.

The victory means Nigeria successfully advances to the final of the 2026 Unity Cup as they continue their quest to retain the trophy they won last year.

Head coach Eric Chelle will now shift focus to the tournament final, where the Super Eagles will face the winner of the semi-final showdown between Jamaica national football team and India national football team scheduled for tomorrow.

The Unity Cup final is billed for Saturday, May 30, in England, with Nigeria aiming to defend their crown and further stamp their authority in the competition.

Azeez’s outstanding performance will also excite Nigerian fans, as the England-born forward continues to make a strong impression following his first invitation to the national team setup.
