Femi Azeez Strikes on Super Eagles Debut as Nigeria Lead Zimbabwe at Half-Time in London

Nigeria made a bright start to their 2026 Unity Cup clash against Zimbabwe as debutant Femi Azeez Beloso fired the Super Eagles into an early lead in London.

The Millwall forward announced himself in style, scoring in the 5th minute to hand Nigeria a deserved 1-0 advantage at half-time against the Warriors of Zimbabwe at The Valley Stadium.

Head coach Eric Chelle handed opportunities to several fresh faces in the Unity Cup encounter, and Azeez repaid that faith immediately with a composed finish on his debut appearance for the Super Eagles.

Nigeria have largely controlled proceedings since taking the lead, dominating possession and dictating the tempo of the game in front of an excited crowd in London. The Super Eagles looked sharp in attack and organised defensively as Zimbabwe struggled to create clear-cut chances in the opening 45 minutes.

The Unity Cup fixture also serves as an important platform for new players to impress and stake claims for future national team call-ups. Femi Azeez was among several debutants included in Nigeria’s squad for the tournament.
