Chipolopolo Boys Depart for Spain for Final AFCON Preparations

The Chipolopolo Boys have departed for Spain to begin their final phase of preparations ahead of the Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

A 22-member contingent—consisting mostly of home-based players and two foreign-based stars, Fashion Sakala and Stopilla Sunzu—left Lusaka this afternoon aboard Airlink Airlines. The team departed at exactly 14:30 hours from the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.

The squad will link up with other foreign-based players in the Spanish city of Murcia, where Zambia will hold an intensive international training camp from December 11 to 17, 2025.

Earlier in the day, head coach Moses Sichone unveiled his provisional 28-man squad for the tournament, featuring a blend of experienced internationals and promising talents from leagues across Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Zambia has been drawn in Group A, where they will face hosts Morocco, as well as Mali and Comoros, in what promises to be a competitive outing for the 2012 African champions.
