The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has provided a response to the growing concerns over the unresolved contract of Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu. In a direct message to veteran journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau addressed the situation, stating that a resolution is forthcoming.
Gusau's unedited response read: “I am sure when we decided to allow him to take the team to WAFCON, most of you don't believe in what we do. So please. We are discussing with him and soon we will finalise. Thanks.”
The statement comes amid public anxiety regarding the future of the coach who led the Super Falcons to their 10th Women's Africa Nations Cup title and was subsequently nominated for the 2025 Ballon d'Or Women's Coach of the Year award. With qualifiers for the 2026 WAFCON tournament starting in less than a month, the president’s comment offers a glimmer of hope that a new deal for the title-winning coach will be finalized soon.
