Kwara United Football Club has officially announced a change of venue for their crucial CAF Confederation Cup second-leg tie against Ghana's Asante Kotoko. The match, which will decide who progresses to the next round, will now be played at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, as the Rashidi Yekini Mainbowl in Ilorin is undergoing renovations.
The club was hoping to host the decisive fixture at their home ground, but due to ongoing upgrades to bring the facility up to CAF standards, the change was made to ensure the match could proceed. The announcement comes as a blow to the Ilorin-based side, who will be without the support of their home crowd in their quest to overturn a 4-3 first-leg deficit.
The crucial return leg is scheduled for Sunday, September 28, as Kwara United seeks to book their place in the next round of the continental competition.
