Banyana Banyana captain Amogelang Motau has expressed her deep honour at being recognized as one of South Africa's best players of 2024 by the South African Football Journalists Association (SAFJA). The midfielder's acknowledgment is a testament to her outstanding performances for both her club and the national team throughout the year.
The recognition comes after a stellar 2024 season for Motau, where she was instrumental in leading her former club, the University of Western Cape (UWC), to victory in the COSAFA Women's Champions League. Her leadership and skill were further recognized when she was named in the Group Stage Best XI at the 2024 CAF Women's Champions League.
Motau's exceptional form also saw her named the 2024 SAFA Women’s League Player of the Season, a significant individual accolade that crowned her successful domestic campaign before she secured a move to Mexican top-flight side Club Tijuana Femenil in early 2025.
The recognition from SAFJA, a body that acknowledges excellence in South African football, solidifies Motau's rising profile and highlights her crucial role in the national team's transition. Her performance and leadership are setting a high standard and inspiring the next generation of players in South African women's football.
