Rivers United FC Mourns the Passing of Nigerian Football Icon, Monday Sinclair

Rivers United Football Club has expressed profound grief over the passing of legendary Nigerian football figure, Coach Monday Sinclair. Fondly called "Professor" for his deep understanding of the game, Sinclair passed away on Wednesday evening, leaving behind a legacy that shaped generations of Nigerian footballers.

In a heartfelt tribute, Rivers United General Manager, Chief Dr. Okey Kpalukwu, described Sinclair as a true legend of the sport. "We have lost another icon in Nigerian football. Our prayer is that God will halt the tide of sorrow sweeping through our football community," he said on behalf of the club's management, players, and staff.

Sinclair’s football journey was one of distinction—featuring for the senior national team and later taking up key coaching roles, including a stint as interim head coach of the Super Eagles in 1997. He famously coached Sharks FC and played a pivotal role in the development of stars like Peter Rufai, Taribo West, and Finidi George.

Renowned for his commitment to free-flowing, entertaining football, Coach Sinclair was more than just a tactician; he was a mentor and a teacher whose charisma and insight left a lasting imprint on Nigerian football.
